How to Convert CGPA to Percentage for NABARD Eligibility Criteria

One of my students graduated from a university that followed the CGPA grading system for results.

He secured 7.25 CGPA aggregate from his college, combining all subjects and semesters.

However, the university did not define criteria for the CGPA conversion formula into percentages. But NABARD accepts aggregate percentage marks of candidates for eligibility criteria.

Conversion Formula Given by NABARD

    • When you convert 6.75 CGPA into percentage, it is equivalent to 60% marks in aggregate, and this is the minimum percentage required to meet the academic eligibility criteria for General Category.
    • Also, NABARD classifies percentage marks you score as First Division or Second Division.

NABARD Grade A CGPA Conversion Formula

For candidates who have CGPA as marks scored in their graduation or post-graduation can convert their CGPA score into percentage using the formula provided in the table.

Equivalent CGPA/ OGPA/ CPI or similar terminologies allotted on a 10 point scaleAggregate % of Marks
6.7560%
6.2555%
5.7550%
5.2545%

My Student’s Case

Now, let’s understand my student’s case with the conversion formula given by NABARD.

    • His 7.25 CGPA would be equal to 65% marks as per the standard conversion table given by NABARD.
    • His 7.25 CGPA is greater than 6.75 CGPA according to the conversion table given by NABARD.
    • In my student’s case, his 65% marks means that he fulfills the eligibility criteria as a General Category candidate.

However, if the university defines the criteria for CGPA conversion into percentage, use the conversion formula given by the university for percentage calculation. Then, the conversion formula given by NABARD is not applicable.

Conclusion

Many candidates get confused when the university provides the result in CGPA with no defined conversion criteria into percentages. However, NABARD own’s conversion formula can help you convert CGPA into percentages.

NABARD Grade A Nationality

As per the official NABARD notification, candidates applying for the Grade A exam must be citizens of India.

    • Eligibility: Only Indian citizens can apply for the exam.
    • Verification: Valid proof of nationality may be required during later stages of the selection process.

Being aware of the nationality criteria helps applicants avoid any issues during the selection process. Candidates who do not meet this requirement will not be considered eligible for the recruitment process.

NABARD Grade A Number of Attempts

The NABARD Grade A exam does not have any fixed limit on the number of attempts. Candidates can apply multiple times, as long as they meet the eligibility criteria mentioned in the official notification.

    • No Attempt Limit: There is no restriction on how many times you can appear for the exam.
    • Eligibility-Based Attempts: You must meet the age limit, educational qualification, and nationality criteria for each attempt.
    • Age Limit Restriction: You can continue applying only until you reach the maximum age limit set by NABARD.

This gives candidates enough opportunities to improve their preparation and reattempt the NABARD Grade A exam with better strategy.

Conclusion

Understanding the NABARD Grade A 2026 eligibility criteria is essential before you apply. It helps you avoid errors, saves time, and ensures that you meet all the requirements related to education, age, and nationality.

Being clear about these details allows you to focus better on your preparation without confusion later.
