Why RBI Grade B Preparation is Challenging?

To clear RBI Grade B exam or any other competitive exam, requires a thoroughly thought preparation strategy. This is the part of the journey where many aspirants struggle, I have listed below commonly faced challenges while preparing:

  • Vast syllabus: Even after being strongly structured, the syllabus of RBI Grade B contains multiple subjects that focuses on various topics, across both phase 1 and phase 2. Covering and revising such large volume of syllabus within a limited time becomes difficult for many aspirants.
  • Dynamic subjects: The variation of the subjects in RBI Grade B exams slows down the preparation as well. Especially, subjects like Finance & Management and Economic & Social Issues require conceptual clarity with awareness of current developments as well.
  • Answer writing requirement: RBI Grade B Phase 2 exams includes descriptive writing, where aspirants needs to write answers in depth while keeping it clear and structured. This is the most challenging part of the preparation since it needs regular practice.
  • Time management issues: While covering multiple subjects, constant revision, and practice tests, usually candidates try to quicky cover the syllabus that causes uneven preparation.
  • Lack of proper guidance: Due to absence of proper guidance, aspirants depends on multiple unreliable resources which creates confusion and inconsistent preparation.

Due to these factors, RBI Grade B exams preparation becomes unmanageable and uncertain. That is why a structured approach combined with right guidance can reduce these challenges significantly ensuring efficient navigation through the journey.

RBI Grade B Preparation Tips 2026

By this point in the blog, I think I have made it clear enough that the level of the RBI Grade B 2026 exam will be pretty tough.

      • Having a proper study plan before starting to prepare for this exam is probably (most definitely) the best decision you could make.
      • Preparing and going through an overall strategy & a sectional strategy for this exam will eventually help you to score better.

Here is the study sequence you can follow in your exam prep:

      • Take enough mock tests
      • Arrange all the subject category-wise
      • Create timeline for your studies
      • Brush up on current affairs
      • Practice typing more often

These are the Do’s and Don’ts that you must carefully follow while preparing:

      • Do not overthink
      • Make sure to understand the concepts.
      • Study from limited resources.
      • Attempt regular mock tests.
      • Do not waste your time on distractions.
      • Avoid social media.
      • Don’t use your phone while studying.

A good preparation strategy goes a long way with you. But if you don’t have a good plan for time management, prioritizing the topic, revision, etc., then it will naturally become a tough way for you.

Choosing the right books and mock tests is crucial for RBI Grade B 2026 preparation. The right resources help save time, improve concept clarity, and increase chances of scoring well.

Firstly, there are certain books that are so relevant that there might be chances of questions being asked in the actual exam from that very book.

Secondly, reading about topics from a single book would take a lot less time than reading the various topics from a number of books.

So, yeah reading from the right books is absolutely essential to preparing well for the RBI Grade B exam. Here are some of the books you can study from during your preparation:

      SectionBooks / Resources
General Awareness • Lucent’s General Knowledge Book (by Dr. Binay Karna and others) – Static Part
      • Manorama Yearbook

Economics And Social Issues (ESI) • Indian Economy by Ramesh Singh
      • Indian Economy by Nitin Singhania
Finance • Indian Financial System by Bharati V. Pathak
      • Fundamentals of Financial Management by R.P. Rustagi

RBI Grade B Previous Year Question Papers

If you want to crack the RBI Grade B exam, you’d need to solve as many previous year question papers as you can. Solving these would increase your chances of acing the exam to a great degree.

The key to acing the RBI Grade B 2026 exam is to learn several concepts from one question.

Yes, that’s a brilliant toppers’ technique. You sit down with RBI Grade B past year questions and go in-depth with each and every option given.

With that said, the best way you can prepare for the exam would be as follows:

      • Self-Assessment
        • Start by solving a random previous year question paper.
        • This will help you assess your current strengths and weaknesses.
      • Identify Strengths and Weaknesses
        • Based on your performance, figure out which topics you are strong in and which ones need more attention.
      • Focus on Weak Areas First
        • Begin by preparing the topics where you are weakest.
        • Once you’ve worked on these areas, move on to strengthen the topics you’re already good at.
      • Solve Previous Year Paper
        • After completing the syllabus, solve another random previous year question paper.
        • This will help you identify any remaining weak areas in your preparation.
      • Repeat the Process
        • Keep repeating the process of identifying weak areas and revising them until you feel confident in all parts of the syllabus. If luck is on your side, you may encounter questions that you’ve already seen while solving previous year papers in the actual exam.

With that being said, I have compiled RBI Grade B previous year question papers. You may check it here.
