SEBI Grade A 2025 Complete Information

The organization of SEBI was founded with a purpose of protecting the interests of the investors and by doing so, it promotes and regulates the securities market.  

In 1988, SEBI was first brought into being as non – statutory body. Later, it became an autonomous body on 30th January 1992 and was accorded statutory powers through the SEBI Act, 1992 passed by the Indian Parliament.

Given the roles and responsibilities granted to this organization, there is a factor of prestige attached with SEBI.   

This is why banking aspirants share a dream of getting selected as a SEBI Grade A officer across the country.  

One of the reasons for SEBI Grade A exam is known to be highly desirous by the candidates is the fact that it presents an opportunity for the aspirants to work in a reputed organization like SEBI.   

That being said, it is also not an easy task to crack the SEBI exam, taking into consideration factors like competition and the difficulty level of the exam.

SEBI Full Form 

The full form for SEBI stands for Securities and Exhange Board of India.

The headquarters of this organization is located in Mumbai and has its regional offices in northern, eastern, southern and western part of India, i.e., in cities such as New Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Ahmedabad respectively.    

SEBI Functions & Responsibilities

As per the Preamble of the Indian Constitution, the organization of SEBI is responsible for “protecting the interests of investors, promoting the development of, and regulating the securities market, for matters connected there with or incidental thereto.”.  

Hence, SEBI is expected to cater to the needs of – investors, issuers of securities, and market intermediaries. 

To ensure the effective working of the securities market, the SEBI is vested with the following functions: 

• Inspect the book of accounts of financial intermediaries 
• To approve by – laws of securities exchanges 
• Ensure registration of brokers and sub- brokers 
• Inspect the book of accounts and call for periodical returns from recognized securities exchanges 
• Eliminate malpractices in the security market 

An interesting fact to note here is that SEBI as a regulatory body is quasi-legislative, quasi-executive and quasi-judicial, which means it has power to exercise legislative, executive and judicial functions which makes SEBI a powerful organization.   

SEBI Grade A Exam

As SEBI is the Securities and Exchange Board of India, it monitors the securities market and ensures to protect the interests of the investors by formulating regulations and guidelines. 

The exam for SEBI Grade A is conducted on a national level with a purpose to enlist qualified applicants as Assistant Managers at SEBI. 

The selected candidates shall be working on the guidelines of the share market and ensure its regulations using policies.  

This exam serves as an entry point for SEBI recruitment and presents a great opportunity to enter into such a prestigious organisation. 

Now, to make it to final selection of the exam process, the candidates are required to pass through the following three stages: 

SEBI Grade A Selection procedure

• Phase I: The first stage consists of two papers and is objective in nature.  
• Phase II: The second stage comprises of two papers with questions both objective and descriptive in nature.  
• Interview: It is final stage which is conducted to assess the personality of the candidate.  

An important point to note here is that while Phase I is qualifying in nature, the weightage of the marks obtained in Phase II is 85%, whereas the Interview carries weightage of 15% in the final selection.  

SEBI Grade A Notification 2025

The SEBI releases the official notification for Grade A exam on its website. However, the official notification for SEBI Grade A 2025 has not been released yet.  

This notification includes all the necessary information about the exam such as the category-wise vacancies announced, the eligibility criteria, exam dates, application process and the last day to apply.

I would like to point it out for you that the application process for Grade A 2025 will start on the same day as the release of the official notification and based on past trends, it generally continues for a duration of 15-20 days.

If you are preparing for the SEBI Grade A Exam 2025, it is important for you to remember that Phase 1 exam usually takes place within 1 month after the notification is released.

SEBI Grade A 2025 Exam: Important Dates

The official notification for the SEBI Grade A exam 2025 has not been released yet. In order to keep you informed about the important dates regarding the exam, I will update it on here.

SEBI Grade A Notification 2024

Latest Update: The SEBI Grade A Final Result declared on 03rd January 2025. You can check the SEBI Grade A Final Result PDF by clicking on this link.

The SEBI Grade A Interview admit card had been released on 23rd October 2024. Click on the link to download SEBI Grade A hall ticket.

The SEBI Grade A 2024 Phase 2 result was released on 10th October 2024 on the official website.

The admit card for SEBI Grade A 2024 Phase 2 exam has been released on 19th August 2024. 

The Phase 1 result for SEBI Grade A 2024 exam was announced on 07th August 2024.

The SEBI Grade A 2024 Phase 1 admit card had been announced on 20th July 2024.   

The official notification for SEBI Grade A 2024 was released on 10th June 2024.

The online application process began on 11th June 2024 and continued till 30th June 2024. You can check the official SEBI Grade A Notification 2024 here.  

The Phase 1 exam of SEBI Grade A 2024 will took place on 27th July 2024. 

While the Phase 2 examination for SEBI Grade A was conducted on 31st August 2024. 

In a detailed advertisement released on 14th March 2024, SEBI announced a total of 97 vacancies.  

SEBI Grade A 2024 Exam: Important Dates

SEBI Grade A Recruitment 

The SEBI Grade A selection procedure takes place in three stages – Phase I, Phase II and the Interview. Generally, SEBI announces vacancies for various streams which are as follow: 

• General Stream  
• Legal Stream  
• Information Technology Stream  
• Research Stream  
• Official Language Stream  

However, it is to be noted we shall only be discussing in detail regarding the General Stream.  

SEBI Grade A Exam: Eligibility Criteria

The official notification for SEBI Grade A 2025 has not been announced yet. However looking at the previous trends, eligibility criteria usually remain the same and this holds true for the 2025 exam as well. 

If you are preparing for SEBI Grade A 2025, you can go through the eligibility criteria for 2024 I have provided below to ensure your suitability for the exam. 

As per the eligibility criteria, the upper age limit mandated for the applicants is 30 years as on 31st March 2024, i.e., the candidate must not before 01st April 1994. 

The minimum educational qualification for the General Stream is given as:

• Master’s Degree/Post Graduate Diploma* (minimum two years’ duration) in any discipline/
• Bachelor’s Degree in Law/Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from a recognized University/
• Institute or Chartered Accountant/ Chartered Financial Analyst/Company Secretary/ Cost Accountant.

The eligibility criteria for an examination is extremely important for the candidates to know before they plan to apply for it and the same can be said for the SEBI Grade A exam.  

Once the 2025 SEBI Grade A examination notification is announced, we can know for certain what the eligibility criteria is. But, until then you have to refer to the last revised eligibility criteria for basic clarity.

SEBI Grade A 2025 Exam: Job Profile

As I mentioned earlier, working in SEBI as an officer is a dream for many and for right reasons especially when we talk about the job profile of a SEBI Grade A officer.  

After clearing the SEBI Grade A exam, you join the organization of SEBI to work as assistant manager.  

Irrespective of the whichever stream you had chosen in your exam, you can get posted in any department of SEBI.

SEBI Grade A 2025 Exam: Salary And Perks

After becoming a SEBI Grade A officer, gross salary of an officer is approximately ₹ 1,55,000 per month without accommodation, whereas, ₹1,16,500 is granted to officers with accommodation.  

The basic pay of a SEBI Grade A Officer starts at ₹ 44,500 and goes up to ₹ 89,150 over the duration of 17 years. 

This basic pay doesn’t include promotions or increments, this is just the minimum appraisal one will get. 

Apart from a handsome salary, SEBI offers many other perks  and allowances to its employees such as Leave Fare Concession, House Allowance, Financial Dailies, Medical Expenses,Conveyance Expenses & Education Expenses.

SEBI Grade A Exam: Application Form

SEBI has not yet announced the official notification for Grade A recruitment 2025. 

The application process for the SEBI Grade A exam 2025 begins with the release of the official notification, and it generally continues for a duration of 2-3 weeks.  

For better understanding, you can take an idea from past year. 

The online application process for 2024 began on 11th June 2024 and continued till 30th June 2024.

A successful registration in the exam application process is the first step towards the SEBI Grade A examination. 

To ensure that, filling in the correct information in the application form is very crucial. Therefore, the candidates are advised to be careful while providing their details in the registration process.  

The application fee for filling out the SEBI Grade A application form is as follows:  

Steps to Online Application for SEBI Grade A 2025 

To successfully register yourself for SEBI Grade A 2025, you can take a look at the steps given below: 

Step 01: Visit the SEBI website and select for the link “Careers”. Click on “RECRUITMENT OF OFFICER GRADE A (ASSISTANT MANAGER) – 2025”

Step 02: Then, select the option for “Click here for new registration”.  

Step 03: Proceed to enter details such as Name, Mobile number, Email – ID, etc.

Note:-A provisional registration number and password will be sent via registered e- mail and SMS. Save it for future reference.

Step 04: Proceed to upload scanned images of your photo and signature.   

Step 05: On the next page, enter basic details related to post, category, and if belong to PwBD category.  

Step 06: Proceed to the next part of the basic details and enter information related to your educational qualifications.   

Note:- Next, you can preview your registration form. To make changes, you can click on ‘Validate your details’. If you have filled the form correctly, click on “Save and Next” 

Step 07: Then, upload scanned images of Left – Thumb impression and Hand- written declaration as per the specified guidelines.   

Step 08: Select the “Payment” tab and proceed to pay the application fee. Then, click on “Submit” button for final submission of your application form.

SEBI Grade A Exam: Admit Card

The official notification for SEBI Grade A 2025 is yet to be released. It is important to note that SEBI announces the exam dates of both Phase 1 and Phase 2 along with the notification.  

Generally, admit cards for both phases are released within 1-2 weeks of the respective date of examination. 

To get an idea of it, you can go through the previous year’s exam dates. 

The exam date for SEBI Grade A 2024 Phase 2 was scheduled on 31st August 2024 and the admit card was announced on the 19th August 2024.

The SEBI Grade A 2024 exam for Phase 1 held on 27th July 2024, the admit card for the same has been declared on 20th July 2024.  

One of the documents the candidates are required to carry on the day of SEBI Grade A exam is the admit card. 

Needless to say, the admit cards are provided only after you fill the application forms. 

The admit card contains information related to exam dates, venue for examination, candidate’s details. It is used as a document to verify and affirm candidate’s applicability to appear for the exam.  

Failing to bring your admit card mean you shall not be allowed to enter the the examination hall.

SEBI Grade A 2025 Exam: Exam Pattern

A thorough understanding of the exam pattern can greatly be advantageous to familiarize with the nature of the SEBI Grade A examination.  

SEBI Grade A 2025 Phase 1/Prelims is an on-line screening MCQ based examination consisting of two papers for 200 marks with total duration of 100 minutes, with: 

• Paper 1 consists of 80 questions for total 100 marks to be attempted within 60 minutes 
• Paper 2 comprises 80 questions for total 100 Marks to be attempted within 40 minutes 

SEBI Grade A 2025 Phase 2/Mains is an online examination consisting of 2 papers for 200 marks with total duration of 100 minutes) with: 

• Paper 1 contains 3 descriptive questions of total 100 marks, and the time limit is 60 minutes. 
• Paper 2 is 100 MCQ-based questions for total 100 marks and the time limit is 90 minutes. 

SEBI Grade A 2025 Phase 3/Interview shall consist of the interview round, where a panel of 5 professionals ask candidates questions to test their knowledge and personality.

SEBI Grade A 2025 Exam: Syllabus

SEBI Grade A Exam: Result

Latest Update: The SEBI Grade A 2024 Final result has been released on 03rd January 2025 on the official website.

The exam result for SEBI Grade A 2024 Phase 2 had been out on 10th October 2024 on the official website. 

The SEBI Grade A 2024 Phase 1 exam result was released on 07th August 2024 on the official website.

SEBI Grade A result is generally announced 1-2 weeks after the exam is conducted. But for a surprise SEBI Grade A 2022 Phase I exam which was conducted on 20th February 2022, the result for the same was announced on 25th February 2022. Yes, you read it right, the result was declared in just 5 days. 

Soon after it, the SEBI Grade A phase II exam took place. The exam successfully conducted on 20th March, 2022. Following that, the result of the same came out on 7th April 2022. 

Following this, the Interview stage i.e., the phase III was conducted and sequentially the Pdf carrying the roll. Numbers of selected candidates came out on the official website of SEBI on June 29, 2022. 

With that the SEBI Grade A 2022 recruitment cycle closed.

SEBI Grade A Exam: Cut-off

The Cut-off list plays a key role and can be a game changer for candidates in their final selection as the marks scored by the aspirants must meet the cutoff in order to qualify for the final round.  

While the exam for SEBI Grade A 2024 is take placed. Last year, the SEBI Grade A final cut off was released on 11th July 2022. Final cut off is released after the final result declaration.
