Latest Update: The result for UGC NET December 2023 has been announced on 19th January 2024 for the exam which took place from 6th December 2023 to 14th December 2023.

UGC NET Result – Steps to Check

To check your NTA NET result, then apply the following steps to view your result:

Step 1: Go to https://ugcnet.nta.nic.in/.

Step 2: Click on the result link for UGC NET.

Step 3: On this page, enter your Application Number, Date of Birth & Security Pin. Click on Submit button.

Step 4: Your UGC NET result will be shown on the screen. Download & print it.

UGC NET E-Certificate & JRF Award Letter

Latest update: The UGC NET E- certificate and JRF Award Letter for June exam cycle 2023 has been released on 05th September 2023 on the official website. 

Now, as I have mentioned above, if according to your UGC NET result, you are able to qualify the test, then NTA comes out with the next piece of documentation in your name, I.e., the UGC NET e-certificate or the JRF letter. 

To be eligible to receive the UGC NET E-certificate, you must qualify for the post of Assistant professor in the UGC NET exam.  

Whereas, if you qualify for the position in the JRF, then you are entitled to receive the JRF letter.  

These certificates are like award badges, needed to apply for the various job interviews, research positions, and for teaching jobs.

How to Download UGC NET e-certificate & JRF letter

In the lines written below, I have explained in a step-wise manner how you can download your UGC NET e-certificate or/& your JRF letter.

Here are the steps:

Step 1: Go to the UGC NET website.

Step 2: On the website, scroll down to the bottom and find important links section. In the section you will the see the head “UGC NET e-certificate.” Click on it

Step 3: The website will re-direct you to the “Candidate login area” page. Next, select the exam and enter the captcha code and proceed.

UGC NET E-Certificate/JRF letter Validity?

Coming to the validity of the certificates awarded to those who are able to achieve a qualifying status (or qualifying score/grade) in their UGC NET result, they are of two types.

The two types of certificates that we usually refer to as the UGC NET e-certificate and the JRF letter are formally known as:

  • Certificate of Lectureship (LS)
  • Certificate for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)

That said, both have different validities.

The Certificate for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) will be valid only for the 3 years post the date of the declaration of your result.

Whereas, the Certificate of Lectureship has no such time limit. You can apply for a lectureship position any time after qualifying your UGC NET exam.

Note: NTA fixes two qualifying scores/grades also known as cut off marks for NET (Certificate of Lectureship) and JRF (Certificate of Junior Research Fellowship). Now, it depends on the marks scored by the candidate whether he/she will be awarded any certificate or not.

UGC NET Answer Key & Marked Responses

Before the UGC NET results are announced, the NTA usually comes out with UGC NET provisional answer keys, marked responses, and question papers.

Well, after the UGC NET exams are over, a provisional answer key is released.

Another reason is to allow the candidates to figure out their own marks by matching the answers they had written in the exam, listed in their marked responses, to the provisional answer key.

Latest Update: The answer key for UGC NET December 2023 exam has been declared on 19th January 2024. The link to download the UGC NET final answer key is provided here.    

Every year after the culmination of the UGC NET exam, UGC releases a provisional and a final answer key known as UGC NET Answer Key. 

The answer key is released by the NTA with the purpose to help candidates match their marked responses in the paper to the options given as correct in the answer key.  

By doing so, the candidates can assess the total number of correct and incorrect answers marked in the actual exam.

UGC NET Final Answer Key – Steps to Download 

To access and download the UGC NET Provisional Answer Key follow the steps, respectively.  

Step 1: Visit NTA’s official website for UGC NET – ugcnet.nta.nic.in and scroll down to click on blue tab, “Display of key challenge for UGC NET”  

Step 2: A new page opens with 2 login options. You can choose any one of them.  

Step 3: On the new page, enter your details such as date of birth, Application number, and a security pin. After doing so, click on ‘Sign in’  

Step 4: A new page opens, move down to the bottom of the page where you’ll find 2 options in blue tabs. First – View Question Paper and Second – Click to View/Challenge Answer Key. Click on View Question Paper first.  

Step 5: A new page opens up with your response sheet. Click on the option of “Print Response Sheet” at the top. A new pop-up appears on the screen. Click on “Save as PDF” option to proceed and your response sheet will be downloaded in your device.  

Step 6: Go back to the previous page where there were 2 options as mentioned in the Step 4. Now click on the second option – Click to View/Challenge Answer Key.  

Step 7: A new page opens up with the provisional answer key. Just right click on the page anywhere and click on print option.  

Step 8: A new pop-up appears on the screen. Select “Save as PDF” option and click on Save option. The Answer Key will be downloaded in your device.  

Now that you know the steps to download the provisional answer key, lets now look at the steps you should take in case of discrepancies that might be found in it.

UGC NET Answer Key – Challenge

Latest Update: The provisional answer key challenge along with question paper with recorded responses has been released on 03rd January 2024 on the official website for the UGC NET December 2023 exam (Phase I and Phase II) which was held between 6th December 2023 to 14th December 2023. 

The duration period of answer key challenge is available from 03rd January 2024 (06:00 PM) to 05th January 2024 (11:50 PM) While the last date for the payment of the challenge is 05th January 2024. The link to Provided for provisional answer-key challenge is attached here.

In case, the candidate fails to make an online payment of the processing fee, then the challenge to provisional answer key shall not be accepted.  

The NTA offers the opportunity to challenge the released provisional answer key, in case they find any discrepancy in it. This provision lasts for 2-3 days.

To challenge the answer key, you’ll have to pay a fee of INR 200 per question challenged as non- refundable processing fee) through Credit Card/Debit Card/Net-Banking/UPI.

The final decision on the challenges will rest on the NTA and the eventual result will be based on the final answer keys.

How to challenge the UGC NET Answer Key:

Step 1: Go to the NTA’s official website 

Step 2: Next, click on the option for ‘Challenge(s) regarding Answer Key’  

Step 3: Then, login using your details like Application Number and Date of Birth and enter Security Pin as displayed on the screen and click on ‘Submit’.  

Step 4: Select the option of ‘View Question Paper’ for marked responses and to check or challenge the Answer keys, click on the link ‘Click to view /Challenge Answer Key’ 

Step 5: The Question IDs will be provided in a sequential order. The ID given next to the question under the column ‘Correct Option(s)’ implies correct Answer Key to be used by NTA whereas the Dropped Questions which are highlighted and not for the challenge. 

Step 6:  To challenge a particular option, you can use any one or more of the Option IDs provided in the next four columns by clicking the check box. 

Step 7: After selecting your desired option, click on ‘Save your Claims’ and proceed to the next page. You will notice all the Option IDs you have challenged displayed on the screen. 

Step 8:  Select ‘Choose File’ to upload the supporting documents required. Remember to put all documents in a single pdf file.  

Step 9: Next, click on ‘Save your Claims and pay fee’ or if you wish to modify the claims, select the option of ‘Modify your Claims’. After saving the claims, you will find your Challenges displayed on – screen.  

Step 10: Now, to make the fee payment, click on the option of ‘Pay Fee’. After successful payment of processing fee, your claims will be saved.  

Step 11: To select the mode of payment and pay the required fee of Rs.200/- for each question challenged. Make payment through Debit/Credit Card/Net Banking/ UPI.
