To achieve excellence, an individual must not only be determined to give their best but also know how to learn from the best

We all dream of a better future that will guarantee us some great opportunities in our professional lives as well as help us grow personally.

But how many of us are willing to put in the required work and effort to fulfill our dreams?

After interacting with many students, I often find aspirants feeling motivated while listening to success stories during their preparation which I believe to be good.

But let me start by asking a simple question, do you know what it takes to be an achiever from an aspirant? It is by inculcating certain traits during preparation that makes a huge impact.

Now I know many of you must be wondering about the key differences between those who make it and those who don’t.

Well, you need not worry as in this blog, I am going to share common factors which has helped toppers ace the exam and which in turn will also guide you to join the league!

So, without any further delay, let’s get started.

Factor No. 01: Consistency is the key

Consistency is the key

To begin with, I cannot stress enough the importance of maintaining consistency. Yet many aspirants tend to have a laid-back attitude during exam preparation.

I am sure all of us are familiar with situations where we promise ourselves to sincerely work on our project from the next day onwards or excuse ourselves to enjoy the festive time to study later.

However, it is being consistent that sets toppers apart from others and helps them achieve success in the final stage.

Talking about an example of f motivational figure, Dashrath Manjhi proved to the world that nothing is impossible is possible if you are fuelled by the desire to accomplish your mission. In such case, no hurdle however small or big can stop you even if it is a freaking mountain!

Therefore, to cover such h mountainous syllabus, you ought to be determined and consistent in your efforts to do the same on a daily basis.

Factor No. 02: Effective execution of planning

Effective execution of planning

Next, while it is quite easy to make plans, ensuring its execution is often considered to be a difficult task.

There is no denying the importance of crafting a detailed study plan, but it is equally to make sure it is effectively implemented to cover the entire syllabus on a timely basis.

This is another important characteristic which marks the distinction between the achievers and aspirants.

As I mentioned earlier, since the exam syllabus for RBI Grade B is quite vast, to cover all topics thoroughly, the aspirants must also ensure regular revision and practice mock tests from time to time.

So, to allocate adequate time to each subject as well as for the revision, you must carefully curate your study plan and ensure to strictly follow it.

Factor No. 03: No waiting till notification’s arrival

Talking about one of the biggest mistakes the aspirants make in their exam journey is to wait for the notification to be released in order to kick-start their RBI Grade B exam preparation.

Each year, many aspirants often ask me about the release of the notification and waste their precious time worrying about it.

While the date of the notification’s release may be uncertain but you can be assured that it will be announced.

So, why should the aspirants wait for the notification to be released when they know that will surely take place as it does each year?

With each passing year, the difficulty level of the RBI Grade B exam is going higher, therefore it is a huge mistake for aspirants to believe they can cover the syllabus within 1-2 months after notification’s arrival.

As per my experience, the candidates need a minimum of 6-8 months of comprehensive study to be well–prepared and confident for the D–day!

Factor No. 04: Preparing comprehensively for the exam

Now, I am often asked by many aspirants to provide them with hem a list of important topics to prepare for the exam. However, in my opinion, that is not how you should approach the exam.

As most of you would know the RBI Grade B exam entails three stages – Phase 1, Phase 2, and the final Interview.  In Phase 1, there are objective questions that are asked, whereas Phase 2 involves both objective questions as well as descriptive answer writing.

Apart from this, for sections like General Awareness (GA), Economic and Social Issues (ESI), and Finance, the aspirants must cover at least 6- 8 months of current affairs.

Hence, instead of focusing exclusively on the important topics, the aspirants must direct their attention towards approaching their exam preparation holistically. You must prepare for all three stages of the exam effectively.

Together with comprehensive coverage and consistent revision, you will gain conceptual clarity which help you ace the exam.

Factor No. 05: Seeking the right guidance or mentorship

Seeking the right guidance or mentorship

In my years of experience as a mentor, I understand the significance of proper guidance in an aspirant’s life.

While, preparation for a competitive exam like RBI Grade B requires dedicated efforts and discipline, however along with the way, there are many doubts and confusion expressed by the candidates.

Having the right mentorship along with preparation can make a huge difference in the final selection of the candidates.

Proper guidance can help you cover the syllabus thoroughly within the specified time as well as clear all your queries related to the exam.

Hence, having reliable mentorship will prove to be immensely helpful as it will guide you to taking the right steps along the way in your exam preparation.
