Learn how to train your mind to clear RBI Grade B 2024

For RBI Grade B | 31st May 2024 – 10 mins read

Do you remember the secret wishes and desires we used to have in our college days? What exactly was our main goal? Was it to study religiously? Not really. It was to chill, have fun, and basically experience our lives to the fullest!

Well, the list doesn’t end just yet.

To make fond memories of the college, we would try our best to have a good social life, which included wooing partners of the opposite gender, bunking classes, and exploring new places.

Now, the extent to which we were successful in achieving these goals could be very individual. Nonetheless, we can all agree that we had our best times during college.

Ever wondered why? Because the desire to have fun regardless of its consequences was so strong, we eventually made it possible for ourselves!

Fast forward to the present day, and the majority of aspirants preparing for the RBI Grade B exam find themselves confused and low on confidence despite putting in their best efforts to achieve their dreams.

But what if I told you that you can learn to overcome your limiting self-beliefs and make use of certain techniques to train your mind to focus in the right direction?

Yes. Recently, I had the privilege of reading a popular book called “Think and Grow Rich,” and I am going to share some techniques mentioned by the author to help you train your mind the right way!

So, are you excited to know more? Let’s get started.

The Real Meaning of Getting Rich

When I first landed upon this book, I was a little skeptical initially because I thought this book was primarily about ways to get rich, so it would be exploitative in nature.

But then the book talked about something deeper. It explained the real meaning of getting rich.

It talked not only about getting rich in terms of money but also about getting rich in terms of thoughts, ideas, and knowledge.

As I continued reading, I was curious to know what was in store for me to learn. And I wasn’t disappointed. The book had some great insights, which personally left me mind-blown.

I. Identifying and channeling your burning desire

The book recommends identifying and then channeling your burning desire. We all have some hidden, burning desire waiting to be explored.

Normally, in our everyday lives, we just hope or merely wish for things to happen. For example, I wish to work in the RBI, or I hope to get selected as an officer this year.

But the question is, “How many of us actually have a burning, desperate desire to get through and to work in this prestigious organization?”

Now, the majority of employees who are working in banks, especially public sector banks, either have tried to clear the RBI Grade B exam or are trying to level up their career by getting into RBI.

But what if I ask them, “Are you willing to stay up late at night till 2 with me to prepare for the exam for the next two months despite your hectic schedule?

Only a few of them will seriously follow.

So, you see, the problem here is the channelization of that burning desire to sustain efforts for the long run.

Now, to channelize this burning desire, you need to bridge the gap between the conscious and subconscious mind.

This is not just true for working professionals but for anyone who has decided to prepare for the RBI Grade B exam.

To make effective use of your precious time, you can take a look at the RBI Grade B preparation strategy, which I have curated.

II. Bridging the gap between conscious and subconscious mind

Success is a natural outcome when the conscious and subconscious mind work together to get a particular task done.

Now, the conscious mind is where all the thinking takes place. However, the subconscious is the main force behind our actions and behavior.

It is what you tell the conscious mind repeatedly and on a daily basis that gets embedded in the subconscious.

Let me give you an example.

When I ask my students, how many hours have you studied for the past 2–3 months?

Since it is a simple factual question, they’ll answer, with certainty, having studied 6 hours daily for the past few months. This is where your conscious mind comes into play.

But if I ask them another question, “Are you sure you will get through RBI this year?”

Majority of aspirants are often left with doubts. The answers are often like “I am giving my 100% but let’s see what happens” or “let’s see what the exam is like, if its too tough, I might not be able to get through”.

You see, in this instance, they have a doubt. They have a fear related to their chances of selection in this exam. And this is where your subconscious mind kicks in.

The trick lies in connecting the conscious and subconscious mind in such a way that your subconscious mind will say, “I will get through the exam this year.”

This belief is ultimately so strong that you become sure about clearing this exam.

And you shall eventually achieve it too.

Confidence comes when you understand the nature of the exam well, In case you haven’t, you can go through the latest RBI Grade B exam pattern.

So, how do you bridge this gap between the two? The solution, too, has been given in the book.

III. Your dominant thought is where the answer lies!

The technique of self-suggestion has been mentioned in the book. It is a simple technique, but how exactly does it work?

There is a dominant thought in our conscious mind. And that thought can be anything—be it fear, doubt, or low self-confidence.

What you need to do is work on transforming negative beliefs like fear or doubt into positive ones like self-confidence.

Turn any negative self-belief into a positive one by repeatedly telling yourself empowering affirmations.

When you are ultimately able to achieve that, I can assure you that nothing can stop you from achieving your goals!

If we go back to the example of our college days, our desire to enjoy and experience fun was so strong that even if we got ourselves into trouble, it would make less difference as we would have fun nonetheless!

You see, we were so convinced to enjoy our lives to the fullest, that we left no stone unturned in doing so!

This level of self-belief and conviction is what you need to inculcate in your preparation for the RBI Grade B exam.

To help you enhance your preparedness for the exam, you can refer to the recommended RBI Grade B booklist to comprehensively cover the syllabus.

IV. Give yourself a daily dose of positivity

Every day, give yourself a dose of positivity. Now, doing so isn’t easy, because we are always habitually coming up with excuses or giving up as soon as things turn slightly challenging.

Allow me to explain this using an example.

Let’s suppose you are a working professional who has managed to study only for 3 hours on a particular day.

Now, there are two ways you can look at this situation. Either you will feel demotivated and tell yourself, “I was unable to achieve my target; now my dream to clear the exam seems far-fetched.”

Or in the second case, you can tell yourself, “While today I wasn’t able to complete my target, but, in the coming days, I will double my efforts to cover the syllabus and make sure I fulfill my dream.”

This is what is called a positive dominant thought!

Carrying this positivity forward, you will come closer to the results you desire to achieve. This is what a dominating thought of self-confidence and positivity will do for you. And you must practice it regularly!

If you are doing well, pat yourself on the back and tell yourself, I am doing well, and I am going to clear this examination. If you feel that you are not performing well, don’t lose heart. Identify the reasons you are not doing well and channel that energy to improve your performance, and you will see your name on the list this year!

For instance, the majority of students take mock tests as the exam is about to commence. If you aren’t scoring well on the tests, take a break, assess your weak areas, and make a strong resolve to improve.

With this attitude, you will notice a positive change in your test scores within a week’s time and eventually feel more confident.

To make sure your efforts don’t go in vain, you can go through the carefully curated RBI Grade B mock tests and assess your preparation.

Advice to the aspirants

If you give yourself a daily dose of positivity in written as well as verbal form, then nobody can stop you from achieving your goals or clearing the exam.

This holds true whether I am talking about your goals for life or your short-term goals of clearing the RBI Grade B exam.

Whatever it is, when you make use of positive self-suggestion and bridge the gap between conscious and subconscious, you will definitely be successful and achieve your goals!

I hope this small idea in this book will help you not only achieve your goals but also lead a purposeful and fulfilling life!

Remember that besides preparing your best, it is consistency that matters when you prepare for an exam as prestigious as RBI Grade B.

Consistency is not just required in your efforts but rather in disciplining your mind to think the best so that you eventually become your best!
