Being a graduate, you have a plethora of options to choose from and pursue the career that suits YOU best. But having too many options can sometimes lead to confusion. You can give too much consideration to some while ignoring the others.

It’s quite likely that many of you aren’t even aware of the most sought-after exams that can lead to the most prestigious and fulfilling government positions. Now this is a common symptom of herd mentality.

Don’t feel bad though, it can sound awful, but we all have experienced it at one time or another. What’s important is to become aware and then break free from that shackle.

I know, you might even think that the exams that you are already preparing for are enough for you to get a good enough job and live a good enough life (excluding the tier one exams, obviously).

BUT

RBI Grade B blog Quote

Now, wouldn’t that be a far cry from a good enough life you were aiming for?

And that, dear reader, is the purpose of this blog. To help YOU finally find the “hidden gem” you’ve been looking for.

Whether you’re a fresh-faced graduate or a seasoned professional looking for a change of pace, this is exactly where you should be to explore options that are lying in wait for you.

And today I will help you unearth those hidden opportunities so that you’ll have a better chance at getting selected for various government examinations.

So, buckle up and get ready to discover the path to a job you never knew you needed.

Like so many other aspirants out there, have you been preparing for the SSC or Banking, but also been a tiny bit unsure if it is the right thing for you? Have you been wondering if there are better options available to you?

If the answer to these questions is Yes, yes, and yes?

Then my friend, you are in the right place.

First let’s see what opportunities are available to you.

opportunities rbi

1. UPSC

There’s absolutely no way for any student to remain unfamiliar with UPSC. Widely considered the epitome or mother of all examinations, this exam opens the opportunity to prestigious positions like IAS, IPS, and IFS among other officers.

2. State Public Service Commission (PSC)

Then comes the State Public Service Commission (PSC) which is distinct for every state.

If you are a UPSC aspirant, then you should definitely consider taking the exam for State PSC. Along with these, a lot of students also aspire to join defense services which are probably equivalent to UPSC or state PSC in prestige.

3. SSC, Banking, Railways

SSC, Banking, PCUs and railways. These are the exams that come to mind after the tier one exams. A lot of students try their hands at them.

And now, the most under-rated exams that you have been waiting to know about.

4. RBI, SEBI, NABARD

There is a hidden link lurking in the middle of these exams that we often forget about. These are relatively unknown and definitely underrated examinations that people are usually unaware of. As a result, you too, come to know about them quite late.

These are regulatory bodies exams popularly known as RBI, SEBI and NABARD exams.

And today, my goal is to give you all the information about them and compare them with other examinations, so you’ll get an idea if you can prepare for all these exams together or not. And if yes, then how?

vacancies rbi

There is a rumor that the vacancies in these exams are quite low. And what if I tell you that’s all it is? Rumors?

Completely changes the game, doesn’t it?  Let’s have a look at the ratio of the number of vacancies to the number of applicants.

1. SSC & Banking

In banking, there were 9000 vacancies per 5000000 applicants in 2021. Which means 9 per 5000 applicants. And if we pick up SSC, we’ll see that it boils down to 8 vacancies per 5000 applicants.

2. RBI, SEBI, NABARD

If we talk about RBI or SEBI, they release about 200 vacancies every year. Approximately, 1 lakh or less students apply every year. Making the ratio 2 applicants per 1000 vacancies.

If I make it easier for you to form a picture in your head, it is 10 applicants per 5000 vacancies. Making the odds even better for you to clear these exams.

They appear to be less, but the number of applicants is also very less.  So, the vacancies are good, even slightly better than banking and SSC.

eligibility rbi

Let’s move on to eligibility now.

1. RBI & NABARD

Bachelor’s along with the Engineering undergrads required percentage is 60% for RBI and NABARD which is a little higher for a lot of students.

But look at it this way, if you fall above this, it means you are already in an advantageous position, since a lot of applicants are below this cutoff and get eliminated on the very first stage.

2. SEBI

If you did engineering, you need 60% to be eligible for SEBI. But there’s a catch for you If you are a regular graduate. To be eligible for SEBI, you’ll have to do a master’s degree.

For example, if you did B Com, BBA then you’ll have to do M Com or MBA or anything else which has a master’s degree tag.

syllabus

The scariest aspect of exams for a lot of aspirants and for pretty good reason.

1. RBI

  • Phase 1

Quant, Reasoning, English and GA.

  • Phase 2

Now these subjects are considered the decisive part as they will decide your merit.

Indian Economy (ESI), Finance, Management and English Writing.

2. SEBI

  • Phase 1

Quant, Reasoning, English and GA.

  • Phase 2

If you are a SEBI applicant, then you’ll have to prepare these six subjects.

Finance, Management, Costing, Economics, Accounts and Companies Act.

 3. NABARD

  • Phase 1

Quant, Reasoning, English and GA.

  • Phase 2

Computers and Decision Making, Indian Economy, Agriculture & Rural Development and English writing. Computers are of a very average level and not difficult to prepare at all.

So, if we analyze these, the Phase 1 syllabus is common in all the three exams. If you are preparing for bank exams simultaneously, you don’t need to put any additional efforts to clear the Phase 1 exam. You can just focus on the phase 2 syllabus.

And if you’re a CA graduate or related to commerce in bachelors and masters, you will definitely have the edge over other students, it will be super easy and a good opportunity for you.

So, it’s apparent now that there is a lot of overlap between these exams and banking PLUS UPSC too. If you are a UPSC aspirant, these will hold extra appeal for you.

recruitment cycle

There’s this wacky misconception out there that the recruitment cycles of these exams are not regular. And that’s all it is “A MISCONCEPTION”.

Let’s talk about the trends observed in last 5 years

rbi sebi nabard exam cycle

Goes on to show that these three exams cover the entire yearly cycle. So, if you decide to prepare for these exams, you’ll be busy for the entire year, which, let me assure you, is great, you won’t have to invest another year in exams.

You can take 3 exams in a year, automatically increasing the probability of your selection.

There is a dreadful problem of exam leakage that is observed in SSC. The 2019 and 2020 results, selections and joining are still pending.

Imagine working hard and doing everything right to crack your exams, and then not being able to even know the result much less start your job.

Awful, isn’t it?

That’s one thing that you won’t have to worry about in these exams. No leakage problem, no court cases.

Every year, an exam is conducted, the result is declared and joining happens in a professional manner

job profile

1. RBI, SEBI, NABARD

The job profile is exhaustive as hell. And there’s a good reason for it.

Because you get the opportunity to work with and in organizations like IMF and world bank and are also directly related to the finance ministry.

You work in tandem with these organizations regularly because of which you’ll get a lot of exposure.

 2. SSC & Banking

Compared to RBI, SEBI and NABARD, the job profile is considerably narrower and as a result the exposure and experience that you gain will be less too.

salary

Salary is undisputedly one of the most important aspects for a lot of students. Let’s have a look at these numbers.

rbi sebi nabard salary

while organisations like SSC provide a package of 50-60 k per month & Bank PO with a gross monthly salary of 40-50 k per month.

If the ratio of the vacancies is the same, the syllabus being about 50% the same, and if you’re preparing for bank PO and SSC, then why not prepare for these exams as well? You can clearly see the difference between salary and status.

syllabus prep

Let’s compare the syllabus of these exams based on charts.

1. RBI, SEBI & NABARD and Banking

banking syllabus

So, if you are preparing for RBI, SEBI, NABARD, then automatically your preparation for banking will be done. You don’t need to prepare for banking separately.

2. UPSC and RBI, SEBI & NABARD

exam syllabus

The overlap with UPSC occurs here at Indian Economy, Quant, Reasoning, English, General Awareness which we also call general studies.

Your English writing section will also be done while preparing for UPSC. So, if you are a UPSC aspirant, your RBI will be done automatically.

Finance and management are the only two subjects in RBI, finance, management and costings in SEBI. Agriculture and rural development in NABARD, which is only one subject.

These are the only subjects that you’ll have to study separately. But I don’t think it should be a problem when you’re already covering hundreds of topics and so many things when you prepare for UPSC.

Now, you have a clear picture of all these exams. And thanks to this blog, you now know why it is a not a good but a great idea to pursue RBI, SEBI and NABARD on their own,

if you are looking for a single direction to concentrate all your attention towards. Or even along with the other exams that you are preparing for.

All things considered, you have to admit that these exams are excellent and a great place to end up in.

It’s absolutely wild that these incredible opportunities that open the way to great jobs with great work-life balance are lying out there and you have no clue.

But hey, now that you know you can incentivize these opportunities and create a life that ticks every box that you want.
