When will the UPSC Result 2026 Be Declared?
The UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) consists of three stages: prelims, Mains, and the Interview (personality test). As the exams are conducted in three stages, the UPSC announces results for each stage.
- UPSC Prelims Result: The results for the first stage (Prelims) are announced within 3 to 4 weeks after the examination.
- UPSC Mains Result: UPSC publishes Mains results around 2 to 3 months after conducting the Mains examination.
- UPSC Final Result: The final result, which combines the marks obtained in the Mains and the Interview, is announced approximately 4 to 5 months after the interview stage.
All UPSC results are published on the official website in PDF format. Initially, the result PDF contains only the roll numbers of qualified candidates. The UPSC releases another PDF later that includes both the names and roll numbers of the selected candidates.

UPSC Prelims Result 2026
Latest Update: The UPSC Prelims 2026 results are declared on 15th June 2026. The link to download the Prelims Result PDF for UPSC 2026 is provided here.
Previously, The result for UPSC Prelims 2025 has been out on 11th June 2025 for the exam which took place on 26th May 2025. You can check and download the UPSC Prelims result by clicking on the link attached here.
Following the trend, the result has come out within one month after the commencement of the exam.
UPSC Mains Result 2025
The UPSC Mains exam 2025 took place on 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 30th & 31st August 2025. The result for this examination has been released on 11th November 2025.

The results will be published on the official UPSC website in PDF format, listing the roll numbers and names of candidates shortlisted for the next and final stage which is the Interview/Personality Test.
Previously, The UPSC 2024 Mains exam successfully took place from 20th, 21st, 22nd, 28th, and 29th September 2024. The result of the concerned exam came out on 09th December 2024. The result was released on the official website of UPSC.

UPSC Final Result 2025
The UPSC Final Result 2025 will be declared after the completion of the Personality Test. It will include the combined marks obtained in the Mains examination and the Interview.
As per the official process, candidates are selected based on their merit, which is determined by the total marks secured in both stages.
The final cutoff marks of candidates are usually released by UPSC along with or after the final result.

How to check the UPSC IAS Result 2026?
The results for the written rounds of the UPSC, namely the Prelims, the Mains & the Final, are released on the official website. Follow the steps provided below to access the result:
Step 01: Visit the UPSC’s official www.upsc.gov.in. After opening the website, scroll down to look for the link called “written results”.
Step 02: After clicking on the “written results” link, click on the link called “Examination Written Results”.
Step 03: Next, Download the UPSC Result PDF labeled “Civil Services Examination of that particular year you appeared″.
Step 04: Search for your roll number in the result PDF. Tap back if you have cleared the exam or start working hard for the next year if you haven’t. Never lose hope.

Why Clearing UPSC Prelims is Not Enough for Final Selection.
Every aspirant wants to clear the UPSC CSE exams, but very few prepare day and night, and very few are those who not only prepare dedicatedly but also understand the whole recruitment process.
I want to share an incident of an aspirant who had the dedication to prepare, but a lack of understanding changed his path.
Journey to Prelims Success
An aspirant had been eagerly waiting for the UPSC Civil Services Examination notification for a long time. As soon as the application process began, he started preparing with complete dedication.
His hard work paid off when he performed exceptionally well in the Preliminary Examination and comfortably cleared Stage One.
Lacking information of result process
The intense preparation phase left him mentally exhausted, and knowing that he had performed exceptionally well in prelims, he did not focus as much as needed on mains preparation.
Only if he knew that his prelims marks were not going to help clear the exam.
The Unexpected Result
When the final result was declared, he was shocked to find that his roll number was missing from the list of recommended candidates.
Although he did not panic, considering his prelims marks and waited for the release of the marksheet.
The marksheet came and revealed the real reason. While he had scored very well in prelims, those marks were used only for qualifying for the Mains and were not included in the final merit list.
What Determines Final Selection in UPSC CSE?
The final ranking is based on marks obtained in the Mains Examination and the Personality Test.
Prelims marks are not included in the final merit list.
Many aspirants mistakenly treat the Prelims as the most important stage because they are the first major hurdle. In reality, the case is different; therefore, prepare with all your efforts, but do not take the result lightly.
