Subject-Wise Strategy to cover the Vast SEBI Grade A Syllabus

One constant issue of aspirants regarding the syllabus of the SEBI Grade A exam is that it seems almost impossible to cover. But it becomes much easier when you divide the syllabus subject-wise instead of studying randomly.

Let me share a few tips and tricks to cover the syllabus that I personally use in my guidance:

1. Finance & Management (FM)F&M has a huge syllabus including conceptual topics, which makes it difficult to maintain consistency.

    • Smart Strategy: Divide the whole syllabus of F&M into microtopics and learn concepts for every topic with same day revision along with solving 30-40 MCQs.
    • Common Mistake: Focusing entirely on reading theory without practice.

2. Current AffairsOne of the most time-consuming subjects is current affairs since it is full of factual data.

    • Tip: Follow one or two reliable sources instead of multiple and follow the Reverse Revision Method, which includes revision of only highlighted points, schemes, reports, indices, committees, and market updates.
    • Common Mistake: Analyzing current affairs for 3-4 hours daily.

3. ReasoningBiggest challenge that you might face in reasoning is in maintaining speed with accuracy.

    • Tip: Spend at least 30 minutes practicing one puzzle a day, seating arrangement the next day, and Syllogism/inequality another day.
    • Common Mistake: Spending most of the time watching solutions rather than solving them personally.

4. Quantitative AptitudeMathematical calculations within limited time create enough distress in aspirants, which decreases calculation speed.

    • Tip: Keep a calculation notebook that includes squares, cubes, percentages, fractions, & approximation tricks to utilize time more efficiently.
    • Common Mistake: Not focusing on Quant for a long time due to the stress.

5. EnglishAspirants struggle in English descriptive writing, especially under time pressure.

    • Tip: Practice at least 15 minutes of intro writing, conclusion writing, précis summaries, and short opinion paragraphs consistently, along with one essay per week.
    • Common Mistakes: Not beginning English preparation from Phase 1 and waiting for Phase 2.

6. Securities Market & Economy You may find it extremely difficult to remember all the necessary technical words in Securities Market & Economy.

    • Tip: Focus more on understanding the word rather than learning it. Adapt “Why Does This Exist?” method by, asking “where does this come from?” every time you see a complex term.
    • Common Mistake: Focusing on memorizing every complex word without learning the actual meaning of it.

Among all the common mistakes, “trying to study every subject every day.” is the biggest one. I have mentioned all the tips of each subject, so that you can cover your syllabus within time without struggling over any subject.

Lastly, Keep the preparation structured and approach clear, good luck!
